How To Grocery Shop the Right Way

When going to a grocery store, it is easy to get distracted by your hunger when shopping for food. Always go shopping on a full stomach, this way your hunger will not determine what you buy, and your mind and nutritional plan will be a natural instinct. Follow these four steps:
  • Start by creating an essential list of needs before you go to the store. This should be based on the meals you plan to be making/eating throughout the week.
  • Stay along the perimeter of the grocery store. (Produce, Natural Foods, Meat/Sea Food, Dairy, Frozen Foods, Pharmacy, and/or Deli) The most unprocessed foods that are going to be the healthiest choices are on the perimeter of the store.
  • Try to avoid the middle aisles, except for the healthy food choices or the health food aisle (i.e. Kashi cereal, oatmeal, whole-grain bread, canned vegetables).
